Worm gears transfer large forces, for example on roller drives or steering shafts. We manufacture single-start or multi-start worm gears with metric dimensions or based on imperial diametrical pitch (inches), with profiles from module one to module ten. Larger modules are also available on request. You will receive the item you ordered either as a finished profile or as a pre-whirled profile for later grinding.
Worm gears at work
Worm gears are needed whenever two axles cross at an angle of less than 90°. They are used to transfer the rotary motion from the axle to the worm wheel. It is important that the cogs of both components interlock without slippage. Worm gears run silently and are capable of transferring a large torque.
