A tunnel freezer of IQF freezer (Individual Quick Frozen) is a continuous freezer, designed for freezing of smaller single products, typical shrimps, but also other products.
The product moves through the machine on a conveyor, fans are blowing cold air vertically up through the belt, and the product cools down. The air gets warmed up by the product, and passing through the evaporator, it gets cooled down again. Fans are ensuring that the air is circulating with the right speed. If there is too little air, freezing takes too much time, and if there is too much air, the product will blow away.
