Thermally conductive insulators (TIM) are usually foils made of silicone, which can be reinforced with glass fibers. They are electrically insulating and can be supplied with a thermally conductive adhesive. Thermally conductive insulators are used to improve heat conduction between the heat spreader and its component. Unlike thermal greases and pastes, they ensure the repeatability of the assembly.
