PTC thermistor with a ceramic sleeve
Features
• increased safety during installation through ceramic sleeve
• ideal for use in windings
• IECEx und ATEX certification for the use in hazardous areas
• TR certificate for the Eurasian Customs Union
Application
Increased mechanical protection is achieved by encapsulating the sensor and internal components in a ceramic sleeve.
Due to better electrical insulation the high-voltage resistance of the thermometer is also increased. PTC ceramic sleeve thermistors are therefore primarily installed in the windings of electrical machines.
Structure / Functional principle
The PTC thermistor is connected to the lead by soldering (hard/soft soldering) in a 2- 3- or 4-wire circuit.
Here, the two soldered joints are insulated from each other. The sensor is installed in an electrically insulating ceramic protective sleeve. Available dimensions are from a diameter of 3 mm and a length of 20 mm. Connecting cables are normal or shielded PTFE hoses or single strands having a cross section of AWG20 to AWG30 available. The insulation is provided by silicon, Teflon or fibreglass. The cable ends are stripped in part, with wire end sleeves, bare or tinned available. An optional variant is assembled with a polished glass filament hose as a kink protection. The nominal operating temperature is between +60 ° C and +200 ° C.
